These manufacturers have proven to have reliable products and carry extremely long warranties (up to 25 years typically). This provides a security of investment for the consumer.
Permitting and Construction
Great Basin Solar is a fully licensed and bonded C2 Electrical Contractor specializing in solar design and installation. We complete all solar construction with our construction team. We do not outsource or subcontract any part of the solar installation.
Solar Panel Cost Benefit Analysis
Solar panel systems qualify for a number of rebates, tax credits, and incentives that significantly reduce the cost of a solar energy system. Tax incentives cut installation costs by up to 30%.
Our pricing structure is based on a system capacity format typical of the industry. Solar modules and components are sized by wattage to clarify their production expectations. Likewise our pricing will be based on a $/W formula that reflects the cost to procure the system capacity delivered to the client. While we can expect a leveling of solar component cost over the near future, storage components will likely see dramatic price reductions as demand increases and technology moves forward.

The Solar Installation Process
01. Solar Installer Selection
Your first step is to find a solar installer that suits your design, budget and your expectations. You can vet installers based on a number of criteria.
- Maintenance and Service: Your installer should make clear what the Warranties are and what your costs will be for service after the sale.
- Licensure and Certification: Make sure your chosen installer has all necessary licenses, especially a Current Necada C2 Electrical Contractor's Licese and NABCEP Certification.
- Experience: There are many installers entering and leaving our local market. Find out about the company management, AND that the install team consists of W-2 paid employees rather than subcontractors.
- Testimonials: Find out how previous customers felt about their installation experience. Talk to your neighbors and any references provided by your installer, and check online review boards, especially Google Reviews.
- Aesthetics: Your contractor should install a minimum of visible conduit. Ask for photos of previous installs so you can verify the quality of the work.
02. Proposals, Contracts, and Permitting
Proposals should show you clearly what the contractor is offering. It’s important for this data to be clear so you can make apples to apples comparisons. In Nevada contractors must provide a Disclosure Form as part of the contract. The intention is to provide design variables so customers can make informed decisions.
- Ask lots of questions: The contractor you want can explain all the variables and what they mean. Their goal should be to customize the system to your needs. All of our contracts are reviewed and approved by an NABCEP Technical Sales Professional.
- Site visit: After you’ve selected a solar installer and enter into a contract, your solar installer will arrange for a site visit so your system can be custom-designed for your home. Roof measurements, structural support documentation, and electrical service equipment information will be collected for the design and drafting team.
- Site Design: Designing a solar system often requires a handful of specialists. We handle the solar specific pieces in-house while we work with 3rd party structural engineers to ensure your existing structure is sound. The data gathered at the site survey will ensure a smooth design and construction process. Your design will be reviewed and approved by a NABCEP Installation Professional and your permit drafting will also be completed by an NABCEP certified draftsman.
03. (Finally) Installation!
Congratulations! Your permit application was approved and you’re ready to begin installation.
- Construction Time: This stage will vary in length based on the complexity and size of your system. For a simple roof shape, a solar installation could be completed in a single day. More complex systems can take longer. Your contractor will have an estimate for you before work begins.
- Construction Calendar: Your contractor will contact you to schedule as soon as your permit is ready. At that time we can discuss any special access needed and our projected timeline.
04. Final Steps
After your construction is complete there are still several steps to complete.
- Nevada Energy Interconnect: Your contractor must register and apply for your system to be connected to the Nevada Energy Grid. We have a 95% first-filing approval record and have never failed to have a system pass through the Interconnect process.
- System Programming: Your contractor will program your system into the Manufacturer's Monitoring Platform and provide you with access.
- Permission to Operate: Once the Nevada Energy Interconnect process is complete, Nevada Energy will install your Bi-Directional Meter. Once that is complete your system can be turned on and start producing clean energy for years to come.
